LeBron James, American professional basketball player, broke his hand because he punched a whiteboard after his team lost the Game 1. How could a professional athlete do something like that? He broke his shooting hand and had to play at least 3 games in a cast. Dan Patrick, American sportscaster and the host of “The Dan Patrick Show”, condemned LeBron for his “stupid” behavior.

Dan Patrick: LeBron James may have – sort of could have broken his shooting hand as he punched a whiteboard after the loss in Game 1. Now, I thought J.R. Smith did a stupid thing. LeBron is dumber, you know, that move is dumber than what J.R. Smith did. I mean, use your left hand! So, he punches a whiteboard because he's upset because they lost a Game 1. You know, those whiteboards always win. The blackboard is undefeated here. So, I don't know, you're angry there, but he took it out on a whiteboard and may have broken his hand there. Did he break it or his all intention purposes was playing with a broken hand? Here's LeBron James after the loss in Game 4:

LeBron James: What happened? Self-inflicted post game after Game 1. Very emotional for a lot of different reasons. I understand how important a Game 1 is on a road for our Ball Club, what would that done for us. The way we played, the cause that was made throughout the course of that game. And I had emotions on, you know, the game was taken away from us. I had emotions of – you just don't get an opportunity like this on the road versus Golden State, to be able to get a game won. The emotions get the best of me and pretty much played the last 3 games with a broken hand. So, that's what it is.

Dan Patrick: So, it's a long, long winded way of just saying, “I punched a whiteboard”. I don't need to know anything else: what we get, what was at stake there. But I guess this was leaked or that it was going to be leaked and then, LeBron showed up with a cast. I guess it takes on a whole new meaning, LeBron is in his supporting cast, because he shows up then to let everybody know that he had a cast on his shooting hand. Now, it did look swollen. So, I'm sure that he banged up his hand, but he said, by all intents and purposes, he was playing with a broken hand the final 3 games.

Danettes: So, would it have been better if LeBron had showed up without the cast and just the swollen hand and said, I don't know if it's broken? I haven't looked at it yet, I'll have the doctors look at it after this. I don't know that it's broken.

Dan Patrick: Yeah.

Danettes: That would have been a better way to do it?

Dan Patrick: I think. He sort of hijacked the finals there at the end.

Danettes: I feel like even if he had done that, it'd be like, okay, Bron, we all know you're tough. Okay, just get the cast, all right? Okay, LeBron, we all know you already played 3 games with the broken hand. It’s okay, you don't have to prove you’re tough anymore.

Dan Patrick: Yeah, Paul.

Danettes: Do you believe that he did that consciously, put the wrap on before going to the…

Dan Patrick: I guess he didn't have to hide it anymore. What I read is, he didn't have to hide it, hey, I had this cast, I've been wearing this cast, I'm surprised the information didn't get out but I'm gonna go to the press conference and I'm gonna have this cast on.

Danettes: But he's a smart savvy individual, he knows how we're gonna cover him walking with the cast, we're gonna say, oh, there's your excuse.

Dan Patrick: But is this a good look for him? He knows how we're going to cover this or how we're gonna react to this. I don't think it's a good look for him. You know, you broke your hand hitting a whiteboard! In the NBA Finals! I mean, J.R. did a knucklehead thing. This is silly, too. This is stupid.

Danettes: Punching a wall is incredibly stupid.

Dan Patrick: Yes!

Danettes: Especially if you're professional athlete. It's a dumb thing to do even if you're just a normal everyday person. You punch at a wall and you're a professional athlete in the middle of the finals. It is the dumbest thing you could do.

Dan Patrick: Yeah, I don't think you want that out there. And then, I'm not gonna give you credit because you hurt your – I mean, you're a great player, you had a great finals. But I'm not giving you extra credit degree of difficulty because, hey, I did something stupid, I basically played with a broken hand.
