It's official! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are married!

On May 19th, 2018, the world watched with rapt attention as the royal couple tied the knot in an unforgettable ceremony at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, following a six-month engagement.

But not every big moment of the wedding ceremony was broadcast on television. So what did you miss?

Here's a look behind the scenes moments you didn't see at the royal wedding.

Oprah Winfrey's fashion fiasco

Everyone knows the No. 1 cardinal rule of wedding attire: unless you're the bride, you must never wear white.

But Oprah Winfrey's bestie Gayle King revealed on CBS This Morning that "[Oprah] had a little bit of a wedding emergency yesterday."

The crisis?

"She sent me a picture of the dress that she was planning to wear and it was gonna be a cream color but it came out and it was bright, bright white!"

Luckily, this is Oprah we're talking about, so she whipped together an alternative at the last minute: an alternative that included a stunning pink dress with lace trim – courtesy of designer Stella McCartney, as well as a Gabriela Hearst purse and a cream-colored wide-brimmed hat adorned with flowers and feathers and designed by Philip Treacy.

Talk about pulling it together!

Meghan's dad spoke out

Just days ahead of the royal wedding, Markle confirmed that her father, Thomas Markle, would not be attending the ceremony after undergoing heart surgery amid the media frenzy surrounding his staged paparazzi photos.

Meghan Markle said in a statement, "Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health."

Unfortunately, the official programs had already been printed, so they still listed her father walking her down the aisle, instead of Prince Charles.
Still, Thomas Markle told TMZ he watched from home and was with her in spirit, saying, "My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy. I wish I were there and I wish them all my love and happiness."

No wedding day jitters

If Prince Harry and Meghan Markle felt nervous before exchanging their vows, they certainly didn't show it.

The Prince of Wales appeared all smiles and relaxed as he arrived at St. George's Chapel with his best man, brother Prince William, in tow.
Markle reportedly spent the morning equally calm, cool, and drama-free. The former “Suits” star said she felt "wonderful" the day before the nuptials as she and her mother, Doria Ragland, arrived at Cliveden House Hotel.

A source told Us Weekly earlier in the week, "Harry and Meghan are still very excited for Saturday. Meghan's mother, Doria, is with her at Kensington Palace right now and her friends are here in town. Everyone is really excited for a magical and special day."

Honoring Princess Diana

As the couple prepared to tie the knot, they made sure to honor Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, in a special way.

According to E-News, the prince hand-picked a number of "delicate blooms" for his bride-to-be's bouquet from their garden at Kensington Palace. In memory of his mom, who tragically died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997, the British royal included her favorite flower: forget-me-nots. And another of her favorite flowers, the White Garden Rose, was included in a special arrangement at the entrance of the chapel.

The rest of the wedding ceremony included a number of tributes to the "People's Princess." The hymn sung at her funeral, “Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer”, was included in the service, while her good friend, Elton John, was among those invited to the ceremony.

Meghan's TV family

The former “Suits” actress' TV family couldn't have been happier for her on her big day.

– Was this something that you, guys, knew about before the rest of us did?
– Uh, yeah!

A number of Markle's co-stars, including Rick Hoffman, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, and Abigail Spencer, made the trip to England to attend the royal wedding, and her TV husband, Patrick J. Adams, also showed his support with a sweet message on social media:

“Going to bed now and thinking a lot about the strange surreal and wonderful day my friend Meghan is going to have tomorrow. Meghan – wherever you are – we are so grateful to be here to watch you both take this monumental step together. Love deeply and live well”.

And her TV dad, Wendell Pierce, told Entertainment Tonight:

“[I] will be up in the morning with champagne, strawberries and cream, watching”.

Sweetest cast ever!

Serena Williams' wedding day prep

Serena Williams gave fans an inside look at what it's like to prepare for a royal wedding by keeping a behind-the-scenes diary of herself and husband Alexis Ohanian getting ready for the big day on her Instagram Stories.

And Williams shared some advice for Markle with Good Morning America. “It's so important to enjoy the moment. And eat cake! I didn't get to eat mine at the wedding”.

The couple received new titles

Prior to the ceremony, it was announced that the soon-to-be married pair had received new, official royal titles from Queen Elizabeth II.

According to a statement from the royal communications office, “The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel. Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex”.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the new title given to Prince Harry, who is sixth in line to the throne, was last and only held by Prince Augustus Frederick in the early 19th century. The title of duke, which is the highest rank in hereditary peerage, was similarly given to Prince William.

He and Kate Middleton became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they tied the knot in 2011.

We couldn't be happier for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their big day. Congratulations to the happy couple!
